Uganda: Guard Shoots Dead Suspected Car Thief

A security guard has shot dead a suspected vehicle robber at Makutano Social Center in Mutundwe, a Kampala suburb.

The deceased has been identified as Kasumba Fedelis, a resident of Musoke Zone in Natete, a Kampala suburb.

According to the acting Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Mr Luke Oweyesigire, the incident occurred at around 8:30pm on Wednesday evening. He explains that the guard opened fire when Kasumba attempted to steal a vehicle registration number UBA 707P belonging to Frank Junju that was parked in the parking lot of the hotel.

The suspect was allegedly in the company of two others who fled the scene when their colleague was shot.

Mr Oweyesigire says the deceased's body was handed over to Mulago National Referral Hospital for postmoterm as police investigations into the incident continue.
