Lagos state and other areas in the Western region may experience low power supply as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) said its power line to the region would carry less energy load to avoid collapsing the electricity grid again.
The Daily Trust reports that the power transmission grid has experienced two system collapses at below 24 hours interval. Data obtained from the Nigeria Electricity System Operator (NSO) shows that the peak generation of electricity was at 4,710 megawatts (MW) on Tuesday before the system collapsed at the frequency rose to a dangerous a 50.75 Hertz (Hz).
