Malawi Police Officers from Kanengo Police Station in the Capital Lilongwe have between the Christmas and New Year period managed to arrest some of the dangerous criminals that have been terrorizing Kanengo Industrial site and surrounding residential areas.
Station Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sub Inspector Labani Makalani Confirmed the arrest to Nyasatimes on Thursday.
According to Makalani, some of the suspected criminals include Pilirani Mloma (34) who hails from Dzama Village, T/A Mwadzama in Nkhotakota District, Lingson Kasten (33) from Nthache Village T/A Chiwere in Dowa and Ali Tayimu (22) from Chili Village T/A Nankumba in Magochi District.
The Police Publicist said the three are suspected to have broken into Mc Steel Company Limited Premises between the night of 25th and 26th December 2017 where they went away with sets of computers and an
Entertainment Theatre worth about K2,100,000.00.
"The incident happened as the workers were on Christmas holiday" said Makalani.
Makalani also confirmed the arrest of Wellington Gondwe who hails from Zindi Village T/A Kyungu in Karonga District who reportedly broke into a house in Dubai Township where he went away with a bag containing clothes worth K300,000.00.
Gondwe has also been connected to a number of robbery attacks including that of Chileka in Namitete where assorted items including a Plasma TV Screen, Speakers, two Samsung mobile phones and a phone power-bank were stollen.
The items have since been recovered at Mping Trading Centre in the same district of Lilongwe.
Also in custody is Yotamu Chikhoswe aged 40 and hails from Chibwana Village T/A Kanyenda in Nkhotakota.
He is suspected to have stollen two generators, a speaker and a Water Pumping Engine which has since been recovered in Mtsiliza Township.
"We are therefore calling upon the general public to come to our station for identification of the recovered items" said Makalani.
