Kenya: Three Killed in Homa Bay as Matatu Crashes Into Tractor


Three people were killed early Friday morning in Homa Bay County after a matatu collided with a tractor.

The accident happened at dawn between Mirogi trading centre and Ndhiwa Township along Rodi Kopany.


Homa Bay Police Commander Marius Tum said the matatu rammed into the tractor.

"The three died on the spot as the matatu tried to overtake the sugarcane truck," said Mr Tum.

Bodies of the three victims were taken to Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.


Mr Tum added that those injured were rushed to Ndhiwa Sub-County Hospital and Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital.

An eyewitness, Mr Gordon Kouma, said the matatu was speeding and they heard a loud band when it collided with the tractor.

Police have launched investigations.
