Kenya: Newborn Baby Rescued From a Pit


Locals of Bula Power in Elwak town, Mandera are in shock after one of their own secretly delivered a baby and dropped the newborn in a pit.

Mandera Principal Chief Issack Adawa said a passer-by heard a voice of a baby crying and discovered it was coming from a pit.

"Members of public managed to rescue the baby who looked a day old and took it to Elwak Sub-County Referral Hospital for medication," he said.

The chief said the incident was reported to police who launched an investigation.
