Sudan: Moiz Bakhiet - Full Bard in Poetry, Full Professor in Science

analysis

Moiz Bakhiet, the man who takes your breath away every time he recites a poem about his sons: Mohamed (In The Waiting of The First Rose), Sara, Omnia or Omar or his beloved ones, is the same man who leaves you short of breath when citing his scientific merits and achievements.

To countless people, Professor Moiz Bakhiet is only one of a few, indeed a very few creative individuals, who have reconciled dry pure sciences with lofty, heavenly literary creativity. And he masters both to the limit of completeness.

Moiz is one of few, if not the only one in our modern times in the Arab and Islamic worlds, that bring to your mind such oculus brains of Avicenna, Altawhidi, Albiruni, Alkhawarizmi, avinhaiatam, and other prominent Muslim scholars that excelled in every field they touched.

But he stands apart in one thing: he never shows any snobbery attitude or pompousness as lesser talented people- by a whooping margin - tend to do. He is a different breed altogether.

He has shown that he belongs to the few individuals who stood in the vicinity of superhuman being, people that God bestowed with genes that are of different caliber and magnitude. Compared to one winged creative individuals in science, he stand apart. Compare him to creative scientists, he stand aloof. He is what he is.

How many times, were my eyes filled with water when I heard him recite his poems, I don't know. But every time, I hear him recite- and he is only one of few modern poets that I paid from my meager salary to secure his books- I remember the meaning of a saying attributed to our Prophet, Mohamed, peace and blessing of Allah be upon him that: some lyrics is pure charm (inna min al byan lasihra).

How many people have cited his verses? That I rendered from Arabic - of course traduttore, traditore - as follows:

Thine eyes stand as the yonder shore

At their coast, the perfumes of Amber slept a shore

Thine eyes blossomed genuineness

Pure meticulous beauty and love lush

Your adore is the greatest that could ever be

Your heart is the homeland and home for me

In your eyes glows and shines the breath of writing

Laying away in ecstatic fresh bed

To your homeland I belong

The poems and ballads

Those to me all along belong

The end of my saying and my tenderness

In thee I take refuge

Where haven for grief and sadness is refused!!

And to his son Mohamed he sings:

To you my son, the Nile rises up

For you my son, it whispers to tree

Your face has comes up

A full moon on the horizon

Coming out in the small hours of the day

That is an image you could never forget

The man is a Full Bard in Poetry, a Full Professor in Science.
