Ethiopia: Briefs

The world most famous footballer Brazilian Ronaldinho arrived in Addis Ababa on Friday, thanks to Heineken Brewery.

The great footballer saw his admirers at Hilton Addis on Saturday before he met them at the stadium on Sunday.

Ronaldinho played in France, Spain for Barcelona, Italy for AC Milan and in Brazil for Flamingo. He did lift the World Cup with Brazil, his high performance in the 2002 World Cup staged in Japan and South Korea remains classy.

It is good to bring an international veteran player like Ronaldinho to inspire young Ethiopians. If an active player like Messi visits Ethiopia, its inspirational capacity is expected to be extremely high.

Former Wolayita Dicha coach becomes in charge of Fasil City

When former Wolayita Dicha coach Yonas was sacked form his ten years tenure at Dicha few expected that he would return to the football world in the span of three months.

But the determined coach has all the gut to be in charge of Fasil City. Yonas has shown that he recharge his energy when he takes responsibility.

He came to prominence when Wolayita Dicha joined the elite league five years ago. His spectacular Ethiopian knock out trophy win last year sent his side in to the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in their history. But his failure to keep the side in good form led to his dismissal in mid-this year.

He is back again in to the tough elite league contest after three months with Fasil City.
