The African Development Bank Group expressed its most sincere condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the Algerian authorities following the crash of a military plane, which caused the loss of 257 lives.
"It was with a very heavy heart that I learnt of the tragic plane crash in Algeria, with the loss of so many lives. At this time of excruciating pain and national tragedy, I wish to, on behalf of the Board of Directors, management and staff of the African Development Bank, offer to the good people of Algeria our most sincere condolences. May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace. And may God give much comfort and strength to their families, and the entire nation of Algeria. May God bless Algeria, especially at this time," Akinwumi Adesina, African Development Bank President, wrote in the book of condolences at the institution's headquarters.
The ceremony was held in the presence of the Senior Advisor to the Executive Director for Algeria, Guinea-Bissau and Madagascar, Mourad Bettache. Adesina then proceeded to the Algerian Embassy in Côte d'Ivoire, where he met with the Ambassador and offered the Bank's most sincere condolences to the country.
