Angola: Police Thwart Akz 13 Mln Theft From Universal Church

Luanda — Two suspects were detained Wednesday in connection with theft attempt on Sunday of AKz 13 million from the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, located in "Kilamba" satellite city in Luanda.

The information was released by director of Communication and Press Office of Interior Ministry in Luanda, Mateus Rodrigues, who quoted other two suspects, church workers, as being at large.

The Church members are believed to providing the accomplices with information on existing money within the Church.

According to him, the suspects received a tip off by Church members on how they could reach the coffers of that religious institution, but the swift intervention of police foiled the action.

The police action also led to the seizure of an Ak-47 assault rifle and a vehicle that would be used for the purpose.
