Somalia: Special Forces Conduct an Operation Near Afgoye, Kill Five

Suspected U.S. troops, along with Somali National Army [SNA] forces carried out a joint military operation on the outskirts of Afgoye in Lower Shabelle region on Wednesday night.

Local residents said helicopters dropped the troops in a banana farm located between Baladul-Amin and Afgoye late last night. It was not immediately clear the target of the raid.

Al-Shabab group has several training camps in the area, where it often orchestrates attacks against the military bases belonging to Somali and foreign forces in the region.

Authorities in Lower Shabelle region did not comment on the attack which becomes the latest in a string of raids by the allied troops from SNA, AMISOM, and U.S. military.
