Africa: Stanojlovic - Victory Is All Botswana Need

Botswana coach Dragojlo Stanojlovic has declared that victory remains their only target when they face Congo in the first leg of the Second Round on Saturday in Gaborone.

"We have to win the home game. I respect Congo but once the game starts we will fight," Stanojlovic told the media as the Young Zebras fine-tune for the crucial game.

The Batswana defeated Namibia at the previous round on the away goal rule after a 1-1 tie on aggregate, and are hoping to go past the 2007 African champions to reach the final lap.

"I will take the first 10 to 15 minutes to study my opponents, then after we will attack. We will play to win the game.

"Congo is a strong team but I think my team is now very strong, more especially that we are playing home. The team is disciplined and motivated to deliver, and we have been preparing in that regard. I'm also hoping the supporters will throng the stadium to cheer the team to victory."

Meanwhile, captain Thatanyane Resaobaka is hoping to cap his invitation to the senior national team for the impending regional COSAFA Cup later in the month in South Africa, with a convincing against the visiting Congolese.

The second leg will take place next week in Brazzaville with the winner facing either Senegal or Egypt at the final round.

Seven teams will emerge from the qualifiers to join host Niger for the final tournament scheduled for 2-17 February 2019.
