WARRIORS captain Knowledge Musona is set to switch from KV Oostende to Standard Liege in Belgium in what is seen as a big step in his football career.

According to South Africa media report, his agent, Mike Makaab of ProSport International, is currently in Belgium, negotiating the Liege deal.

"Makaab is in Belgium, where he is in talks with Liege. If all goes well, Musona might conclude the deal by the end of this week. The owners of Standard Liege are the same owners that owned Oostende. They are keen to sign Musona," a source is quoted as saying.

"I'm in Oostende in Belgium. We are discussing the way forward with Knowledge Musona. I've never said this to anybody, there's a big club looking at Knowlege. We are busy in talks at the moment.

"If all goes according to plan, we are hoping that by the end of the week when I'm back in a studio, I'll be able to give you the breaking news.

"Musona has done well in Belgium for the past two seasons. We are very excited about this potential deal, but it's not done yet.

"We are itching closer to finality, and that's why I had to come here urgently to work with our guys in our European office," Makaab said on Igagasi FM.

The Warriors skipper, who joined Oostende in 2015, has scored 39 goals in 110 appearance. He has been named in a 33 member squad of the Warriors to participate at the Cosafa tournament in South Africa at the end of the month.

Zimbabwe, who claimed a record fifth Cosafa Cup title in South Africa last year, will start this year's tournament from the quarter-final stage after receiving a bye in the group stages.

They will begin their search for a sixth title with a match against winner of Group B, which has Angola, Botswana, Mauritius and Malawi.

Hosts South Africa will take on the winner of Group A, which has Mozambique, Madagascar, Comoros Islands and Seychelles.

The other two quarter-finalists will see four-time winners Zambia clash with Namibia, as Lesotho take on Swaziland.

This year's tournament, which for the first time will feature all Cosafa 14-member states, is scheduled for Limpopo province from May 27 to June 9.
