South Africa: Effective Partnership Policing Yield Positive Results

press release

Makhado — The remarkable partnership between the Makhado Police and the Louis Trichardt community based crime prevention structures continues to bear positive and meaningful results.

On 2018-05-15, the police received a tip off from a community member about the illicit cigarettes stored in a house within the Louis Trichardt CBD.

A joint operation between the Makhado Police members and the Louis Trichardt Town Watch led by the Makhado SAPS Station Commander Colonel Nyelisani Mabatha was immediately activated and reacted swiftly which resulted in the arrest of a 30-year-old female suspect and recovered bags containing illicit Pacific Blue cigarettes inside the garage.

The estimated value of these cigarettes is R821 582.

This is a clear indication that together, working hand in hand in the fight against crime, we can do more.

The suspect will appear before the Louis Trichardt Magistrate court soon.

The police investigations are still continuing.
