The NoVoFoundation has announced a Grant of USD 1,240,000 over four years to the International Network to End Violence Against Women and Girls (INEVAWG), hosted by Masimanyane Women’s Rights International
Jennifer and Peter Buffet, via the Radical Hope Fund of the NoVo Foundation, has today announced a grant of USD 1,240,000 to the International Network to End Violence Against Women and Girls.
NoVo’s support will enable INEVAWG to scale up its work on violence against women and girls, including through focusing on the high levels of impunity, and the lack of effective measures to hold states accountable for failures to protect against and prevent gendered harms. Prioritizing the need and importance of working from the margins to ensure that local realities inform national, regional and global human rights and social justice approaches to end violence, INEVAWG works in solidarity with sister activists and organisations across the world, to re-politicize analyses of, and approaches to, end violence against women and girls in all its forms.
INEVAWG’s approach is rooted in intersectional feminist analyses that recognize and seek to address violence against women and girls within the realities of patriarchy, neoliberalism, militarism, surveillance states, corporate capture of public institutions, white supremacy, hetero-normativity, and the legacy of colonialism. INEVAWG is consciously and unapologetically created to be by, and for, women of color, with many members of the founding group identifying with the concept and practice of political blackness. Located in the south, INEVAWG is hosted by Masimanyane Women’s Rights International, South Africa.
"The radical Hope grant provides much needed resources for the Network to build a women’s rights movement from the local to the global, in our collective efforts to end violence against women and girls, using an intersectional and holistic approach. It is an amazing opportunity to think and act outside the box, free ourselves from patriarchy’s power and control regime that is profoundly exercised over women and girls worldwide, and to work uncompromisingly against the root causes of violence against women and girls, locally, regionally and globally. Change is the only option. Our radical hope for INEVAWG is that it lays the foundation for changing the gender status quo." (Members of the founding group).
