Tanzania: Man Kills Wife, Turns Knife On Himself

Sengerema — A resident of Bukokwa Village in Buchosa District, Mr Michael Daudi, is alleged to have stabbed to death his wife Tekla Lutandula before turning the knife on himself in the early morning of yesterday.

The couple was found dead at Enyoj Guest House in Bulyaheke Ward, Sengerema District, according to Mwanza Regional Police Commander Ahmed Msangi. He said connected the incident with crimes of passion.

Bulyaheke Ward executive officer Mussa Mwilomba said the late Tekla of Kanyala Village died after she sustained knifed injuries in various parts of her body.

"The husband also stabbed himself in the stomach seven times," he said.

Tekla's mother, Ms Devotha Shadrack, said the couple had been involved in a quarrel earlier and efforts were being made to solve their dispute.

"She had been living at my home. I didn't know my child went to sleep at a guest house until I was informed of her death," she said.

One of the eyewitnesses who slept at the guest house said they heard the noise of a woman seeking for the help, but the husband warned that he would kill anyone who was trying to interfere.
