Suspected Al-Shabaab militants have shot and killed a civilian in Mogadishu, the Somali capital on Tuesday night, witnesses and Police said.
The victim, Abdirahman Mumin Muridi has been gunned down by two pistol-wielding young men in the capital's volatile Dharkenley neighbourhood, according to the eyewitnesses.
The slain civilian was a watchman at a house under construction in the area and there were reports of confirmation about the motive behind his murder.
The killers were reported to manage to escape the shooting scene shortly before the arrival of local security forces who later launched an investigation into the incident.
No group has claimed responsibility for the assassination which was the latest in a string of attacks in the seaside city in the past few months, some carried out by Al-Shabaab.
The killings against the traditional elders, civil servants and security force members have been on the rise since last Ramadan amidst tight security in the capital.
