Eritrea: Workshop On Empowering Women

Asmara — The National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW) organized a workshop with a view to strengthen the overall capacity of women as well as six months activity implementation assessment and to generate new ideas for future activities.

Speaking at the occasion the President of the union, Ms. Tekea Tesfamicael indicated that the objective of the workshop was to identify the strengths and shortcoming and share experiences that could help remedy the shortcomings.

The workshop that was held on 2 and 3 July in Asmara was attended by heads of departments and branches of the union.

Research papers on "Empowering Women vis-à-vis Gender Equality", and "Role of Integration in Empowering Women" were presented by Ms. Tekea Tesfamicael and Mr. Kiflai Andemicael respectively.

The participants also conducted extensive discussions on issues relevant to the activities of the union.
