Uganda: Two Men Die in Gambling Fight

Two men have died in a fight that erupted over gambling in Mityana town.

According to Police, Ronald Mukiibi, a resident of Kabule, Ttamu Division in Mityana District, died after being stabbed by an unidentified man with whom they were playing a game of cards.

Witnesses say, Mukiibi had staked Shs30,000. But when he lost, he refused to surrender the money to the man.

"The yet to be identified man picked a knife from a boy who was baking chapatti nearby, and stabbed Mukiibi in the ear," Wamala Regional Police Spokesperson, Mr Nobert Ochom said.

Mukiibi, who was bleeding profusely was taken to Mityana Hospital where he died.

According to Mr Ochom, residents arrested the man and beat him. The unconscious man was rushed to Mityana Hospital where he also died.

Mukiibi's body was handed over to his relatives for burial.

The body the unidentified man is in a mortuary at Mityana Referral Hospital.
