Nigeria: Young Comedian Takes Comedy to Orphanages in Kano

Kano — Young Victor Bisong Egbe is known in the comedy sector as Mc Toy Mainasara is a young promising stand - up comedian in the ancient city of Kano.

The Kano born talented comedian has taken comedy to the orphanage. This is because he said people have completely forgotten to reminisce on life trend in their quest for stardom.

Mc Toy said, "Stand-up comedy has been described by entertainment analysts as a new innovation in the Nigerian entertainment industry that has been elevating the living standard of many young talented Nigerians and I am a living testimony to that, and I believe that I am duty bound to inspire others.

"Whenever I stage a show and paid handsomely, I know that wasn't for me alone and for quite a long time I kept asking myself this question; what do I do? The first time I held a free show for an orphanage and the kind of self-relief that I got answered that question," said Mc Toy.

He said seeing the genuine laughter in the faces of the innocent souls at the orphanage had made him vowed to do such constantly. "I was so touched by their laughter; it was so genuine and so captivating. It then downed on me that, these poor children deserve more than what they are getting.

"That was why I started with orphans at the Green Pastures Orphanage in Sabon Gari area of Fagge Local Government in Kano state during this year's children's day celebrations with the hope to continue with it through other festivities," he said.

Taking to Mc Toy, some of the orphans also entertained the audience by performing amazing stunts to thrill others.

The Executive Director of the orphanage, Chaplain Comfort Williams said Mc Toy has opened doors to many people who had wanted to assist the orphans. Through the show, she said two orphans have been awarded scholarship to study up to secondary school.

"This young man here has indeed brought back the lost light in these children's life and he has also opened doors for many people who had wanted to assist.

"His choice of putting smile into these innocent souls has indeed made us proud and I am sure he is happy with what he had done so far. Moreover, some of the orphans have been given scholarship to study up to secondary school level all because of his gesture," she said.

The orphans were very happy with the recent development initiated by Mc Toy Mainasara. They see him as a mentor and a brother.

"Uncle Mc Toy is a good man. He always makes us laugh and he treats us all like his brothers and sisters. He had made some of us discover their talent and he is now assisting them in building that talent," said 12 year old Vanessa.
