Nigeria: Gunmen Kidnap Senatorial Aspirant's Father, Demand N15 Million Ransom

Enugu — Panic was high in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State yesterday following reports of the abduction of Chief Lawrence Chukwuemeka Eya. The Guardian learnt that Eya, aged 68, was trailed to his base in Kogi State by his abductors.

The development has thrown his Igbo-Eze North kinsmen into anxiety, as the kidnappers have placed a N15 million ransom on him. His son, a People's Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial aspirant for Enugu North District, Mr. Chinedu Eya, who confirmed the incident, has appealed to the abductors to free his father.
