A UN migration official said Algeria has abandoned hundreds of African migrants in the desert. A report said migrants from 16 African countries are among those left in the desert with little water.
A rescue official in neighboring Niger said on Sunday that nearly 600 African migrants in Algeria were abandoned in the desert with hardly any food or water before being rescued.
