President Adesina Keynote Speaker At 2018 Agricultural and Applied Economics Association's Annual Meeting in Washington D.C.

The President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, will be the keynote speaker at the 2018 Annual Meeting of the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA), taking place from August 5-7, 2018 in Washington D.C., capital of the United States.

Adesina will speak on "Using Applied Economics to Inform Policies That Improve People's Lives" on Sunday, August 5, from 6:00 - 7:00 pm.

Established in 1910, the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) has over 2,500 members in more than 20 countries. AAEA members work in academic or government institutions as well as in industry and not-for-profit organizations. They engage in a variety of research, teaching, and outreach activities in the areas of agriculture, the environment, food, health, and international development.

The Forum highlights key issues and topics within the agricultural community, offering a platform for conversation among producers, processors, policymakers, government officials, and non-governmental organizations, both foreign and domestic.

Over 1600 agricultural and applied economists from around the world are expected to attend the 2018 AAEA edition. Close to 900 experts will make presentations in the 200 concurrent sessions to be held at the Marriott Wardman Park.

The Forum aligns with the Feed Africa Strategy through which the Bank is accelerating agricultural development with planned investment of US $24 billion over the next 10 years. The Bank is also championing a campaign for new technologies and the scaling up of existing technologies for Africa's agricultural transformation.
