Ethiopia: To Encourage Innovation, Innovators Require Protection

Over the weekend, I came across a well-argued dissertation on the patent right controversy of teff, the Ethiopian staple cereal, on an academic website.

The paper was written by a law school graduate, Beka Melaku, from the University of Barcelona. He argues how the patent granted to the Dutch company Vennootschap Onder Firmaby the European Patent Office could be revoked, along with the legal and diplomatic measures that should be followed.
