Somalia: Forces Clash With Gunmen in Mogadishu

Somali security forces were reported to have clashed with unidentified assailants in the capital, Mogadishu on Tuesday morning, witnesses said. The clash came after gunmen on Auto Rickshaw attacked government soldiers at a security checkpoint in Ex-control Bal'ad in the north of the capital.

Several people have been reported wounded in the confrontation which lasted for about an hour, according to the eyewitnesses, who spoke to Radio Shabelle by phone.

The incident was the latest in series of attacks in the city, some claimed by the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab militants who are trying to oust the UN-backed Somali government.
