The Republic of South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa will lead a delegation that includes Minister of Energy, Jeff Radebe and fellow senior officials as part of the UN General Assembly program. The 2018 AAI Gala will mark the 65th Anniversary of AAI. As part of its mission to promote enlightened engagement between Africa and America, AAI will celebrate honorees including distinguished alumni H.E. Professor Hassana Alidou, Ambassador to the U.S. and Canada, Embassy of the Republic of Niger and Dr. Austin Demby, MD, Deputy Director of the Office of Global Health, HRSA.

  • NAACP President Derrick Johnson will host the pre-gala reception.
  •  Gilead Sciences will receive the Corporate Responsibility Award.
  • Fashion industry innovators Abrima Erwiah and Rosario Dawson, will both receive the Impact Entrepreneur Award for their leading brand, Studio 189.

And,

  • The National Achievement Award will be presented to the People of the Republic of Mozambique.

The AAI Awards gala will take place on Tuesday, September 25th at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
