The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) will host A Water and Sanitation Innovation and Technology Solutions Exhibition at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria on 19 October 2018,

to prepare for the Presidential Investment Summit that will be convened by President Cyril Ramaphosa. Themed "Innovations today for tomorrow's water and sanitation solutions," the Exhibition will focus on support of emerging innovators from the historically disadvantaged background throughout South Africa.

This is aimed to provide an opportunity for such innovators to showcase their work and share experiences of the present innovation landscape.

The Innovation and Technology Solutions Exhibition will bring together stakeholders in the water and sanitation sector, government departments and their entities in the sector responsible for uptake such as municipalities, industry, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD); and organisations responsible for commercialisation.

As a precede to the Presidential Investment Summit, the Exhibition will also prepare the water and sanitation sector for the intended up scaling of the emerging innovators to be incorporated in the business and globally competitive markets, while solving the sector challenges towards meeting the Sustainable Development Goals.

A number of innovators as well as stakeholders have been identified to advise each other on a number of issues that directly and indirectly affect them to bring about positive changes. The format of the Exhibition will be dominated by exhibitions of the innovations coming from the target groups focused on the potential users and funding organisations for commercialisation.

It will conclude with a walkabout through various exhibition stands by Minister Gugile Nkwinti accompanied by officials from the Department of Science and Technology, the Water Research Commission (WRC), the South African Bureau of Standards, and several other key stakeholders.
