Nigeria: Bishop Kukah Speaks On Role in Obasanjo-Atiku Reconciliation, Endorsement

The current Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Mathew Hassan Kukah, on Sunday sent the statement below to PREMIUM TIMES explaining his role in the October 11 meeting in Abeokuta that culminated in the historic reconciliation of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his former deputy, Atiku Abubakar.

In the detailed and lengthy statement, Mr. Kukah said he only facilitated reconciliation between the two men, and that he was not part of the subsequent event which saw Mr. Obasanjo endorsing Mr. Abubakar for the 2019 presidential election.
