press release

A send-off ceremony was held at the seat of the National Productivity and Quality Convention (NPCC), in Ebène on 12 October 2018 for the six grand winners of the National Productivity and Quality Convention (NPQC 2018) who will represent Mauritius for the first time in the International Convention on Quality Control Circle (ICQCC 2018).

The participants were handed their air tickets by the Executive Director of the NPCC, Mr. Deepak Balgobin, and the Chairman of the NPCC, Mr Sanjiv Mulloo, in presence of other personalities.

The ICQCC, at its 43rd edition will be hosted by the Singapore Productivity Association from 22 to 25 October 2018 in Singapore. It will showcase cutting-edge trends, projects and practices embraced by teams across the globe, spanning a wide variety of business improvement applications in today's age of digitisation and economic disruption. The participants will be part of a delegation led by the NPCC to Singapore, where they will have the chance to present their award-winning projects and ultimately then compete on an international level at ICQCC 2018.

In his address, Mr Balgobin, highlighted that the competition provides an important international platform for Mauritius to position itself on the world map of innovation, quality and creativity by showcasing the innovative projects developed and implemented by the winning organisations. He emphasised that this exposure will enable the country as a whole to show how its economy is continuously transforming, while adding that it will definitely have a positive impact on foreign investments and economic growth.

As for the NPCC Chairman, he pointed out that through its participation in the competition, Mauritius becomes the 14th ICQCC member, and this will open significant opportunities for future networking between the NPCC and the other member countries. The most important part of the competition is not only winning but it is the learning and sharing of knowledge, he added.
