Uganda: Varsity Football League Rages On

17 October 2018

Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) are confident they can overturn a first-leg defeat when they host Bugema University today, October 17 for the second leg of their Pepsi University Football League quarter final tie.

IUIU, who are playing in the Pepsi University Football League for the first time, lost 0-1 to Bugema in the first leg of the quarterfinal tie last week. Frank Mugomba scored the only goal of the game.

Despite the loss, IUIU coach Haruna Kebba is optimistic his charges will prevail. "Bugema are a good team but I am confident we shall beat them," Kebba said yesterday.

However, Bugema University coach Medhi Nyanzi says their dream of reaching the semi-finals is alive. And, he is confident his side can complete the job in Mbale.

In the other quarterfinal match tomorrow (October 17), Uganda Christian University (UCU) will be looking to reverse a 0-3 loss to two-time champions Kampala University (KU) in Mukono.
