TANZANIA is rich in investment opportunities due to mainly availability of vast arable and pasturable land, rich soil, oil and gas deposits, minerals, national parks and game reserves. Others are historical sites, unique flora and fauna, marine tourism potential and unique ecosystems (inland lakes, rivers, mountains) and, of course, diverse cultures, people and political stability.
In short, Tanzania has plenty to offer to Africa and the world. We are sure if we had marketed our country from a long time ago and utilised all that we have properly, we would have made great strides in improving the national economy and quality of life.
Each region-that's each village, ward and district-in this country is unique and has many things to offer as investment opportunities. When we hear what is available in one village, ward, district or region, we can get an idea of what can be found in another area we haven't heard about. That's seeing what others are doing in their area can help us also see what we can do in our own.
Yesterday, this paper highlighted what Tabora Region offers as investment opportunities. Tanzania Standard (Newspapers) Limited (TSN), which publishes Daily News, Sunday News, Habarileo, Habarileo Jumapili and Spotileo, in collaboration with the Tabora regional authorities, plans to have a business forum to market the region on November 21 and 23, this year.
More than exhibitors are expected to showcase their products on November 21 and on the following day several presentations from regional business experts and representatives will be made. The region has the following investment opportunities: agriculture, livestock keeping, agro-processing, fish keeping, tourism, beekeeping, processing of meat and hides.
If this is what Tabora Region offers, we are sure that there are more of such opportunities in other regions, which we believe if are all explored and utilised, Tanzania will be on the world map in terms of investment opportunities. What we think we still lack though is vision and how to put it into practice.
Tabora Region shows us what we can do in our own regions to invest, improve the lives of our people and boost the national economy. In fact, we are more than what we are and do and this is what gives us courage to look beyond what we are and do.
If each region organises a business forum or a similar event that suits their situation and make people aware of the potential they have and what they can do, we are sure of climbing the ladder of success. So, let each regional authority engage its people in finding investment opportunities and marketing them again and again and we are sure it will make a difference in their lives and country.
