Sudan: Japan Commends Sudan Efforts On Peace in S. Sudan

Khartoum — Japan has expressed its appreciation of he efforts made by Sudan to realize peace in South Sudan State.

This was expressed in statement issued by the Japanese Foreign Press Secretary , Takeshi Osuga, on occasion of the celebrartiion of the signing of the peace deal in South Sudan State.

Hereunder is the text of the statement :-

"1 Japan welcomes the fact that the Republic of South Sudan successfully held the Peace Ceremony for the signing of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS) without any major disruptions in Juba on October 31.

2 Japan highly values the strong political will and commitments by relevant parties including the Government of the Republic of South Sudan and the opposition leaders to observe the permanent ceasefire and to implement the Agreement. It also expresses its respect for great efforts made by the Government of Sudan and other IGAD (Intergovernmental Authority on Development) countries as well as the IGAD Secretariat to promote peace in South Sudan.

3 Japan will contribute to support, in cooperation with the international community, the implementation of the Agreement as well as the efforts towards peace and stability in South Sudan".
