Sudan: Dahab Says ICC Is Political Tool Used By Some Countries

New York — Sudan UN Envoy , Ambassador Omer Dahab said before sitting of the UN General Assembly set for hearing the annual report about the International Criminal Court(ICC) presented by President of the court said that ICC is not affiliated to UN and what links it with the international organization is the agreement that organizes relations between the two bodies.

He stated that Sudan rejects any attempt to jump over such borders.

Ambassador Dahab added that more than half the world population are not under the ICC power and jurisdiction and that countries other than Sudan are not parts of the court's statute, stressing that ICC is not rather than one of tools of foreign policy for some countries.

The Sudan Permanent Envoy said that ICC has not future it doomed to failure and that it used to exercise its powers for African countries only.

He refuted allegations of the President of the ICC that it intervene only when a country be unable or has no desire to bring the accused who committed serious crimes to justice, underlining that ICC has been used for achieving political agenda of countries funding the court.
