Angola: Head of State Dismisses General Officers

Luanda — The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, last Tuesday dismissed some general officers, after consulting with the National Defence and Security Council.

According to a press note from the Head of State's Civil Office, which reached ANGOP on Tuesday, the Commander-In-Chief dismissed the following general officers:

- General Maurício Amado Nzulu, from the post of Deputy Chief of Staff for Social Matters of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA); - General Altino Carlos José dos Santos, from the post of Head of the Main Department for Planning and Organisation of the FAA General Staff; - General Baltazar Diogo Cristóvão, from the post of Head of the Main Department for the FAA Patriotic Education; - Admiral Emílio Miguel de Carvalho Sobrinho, from the post of Head of the Main Department for Personnel and Cadres of the FAA General Staff; - Lieutenant-General António de Jesus Miguel José Fernandes, from the post of Assistant Head of the Main Department for the FAA Patriotic Education; - Lieutenant-General Artur Valente de Oliveira, from the post of Assistant Head of the Main Department for Personnel and Cadres of the FAA General Staff;

- Lieutenant-General João António Santana, from the post of Consultant to the Minister of State and Head of the Security office of the Head of State; - Brigadier Apolinário Pedro Gaspar, from the post of Head of the Office of the State Secretary for National Defence Policy of the Defence Ministry; - General Francisco Lopes Gonçalves Afonso, from the post of Commander of the National Air Force.

APPOINTMENTS

The Commander-In-Chief made the following appointments: - General Altino Carlos José dos Santos, to the posto f Commander of the National Air Force; - General João António Santana, to the post of Assistant Head of the Main Department for the FAA Patriotic Education; - Admiral Emílio Miguel de Carvalho Sobrinho, to the post of Deputy FAA Chief of Staff for Social Matters; - Lieutenant-General Artur Valente de Oliveira, to the post of Head of the Main Department for Personnel and Cadres of the FAA General Staff;

- Lieutenant-General António de Jesus Miguel José Fernandes, Head of the Main Department for the FAA Patriotic Education;

- Lieutenant-General Apolinário Pedro Gaspar, to the post of Head of the Office of the FAA Chief of Staff; - Counter-Admiral Eduardo Henriques da Silva, to the post of Head of the Office of the Secretary of State for National Defence Policy of the Defence Ministry;

DISMISSAL OF POLICE CHIEFS - Commissioner Paulo André Francisco, from the post of Director of the Office of the General Commander of the National Police; - Commissioner João Baptista Martins Ginga de Almeida, from the post of Commander of the Police Force for Protection of Strategic Objectives; - Sub-Commissioner Augusto Vasco Sandundo, from the post of Head of the Office of the Second Commander of the National Police; - Sub-Commissioner Waldemar Paulo da Silva José, from the post of Assistant Director of the Higher Institute of Police and Criminal Sciences.

APPOINTMENT OF POLICE CHIEFS

- Chief-Commissioner João Baptista Martins Ginga de Almeida, to the post of Commander of the Border Police; - Commissioner Augusto Vasco Sandundo, to the post of Head of the Office of the General Commander of the National Police; - Commissioner Sebastião Cambinda, Director for Logistics of the Ministry of the Interior and for the National Police; - Commissioner Paulo André Francisco, to the post of Adviser to the Commander of the National Police; - Sub-Commissioner Waldemar Paulo da Silva José, to the post of Director of the Office for Institutional Communication and Press of the Ministry of the Interior.

The Head of State also carried out the following grade promotions in the National Police:

- João Baptista Martins Ginga de Almeida was promoted to the position of Chief-Commissioner (Commander of the Border Police);

- Augusto Vasco Sandundo to the rank of Commissioner (Head of the Office of the General Commander of the National Police);

- Divaldo Júlio Martins promoted to the rank of Sub-Commissioner (Commander of the Police Force for Protection of Strategic Objectives);

- Chief Superintendent Amadeu Narciso Lucamba Bentes, Head of the Office of the Second General Commander of the National Police.

The Head of State also determined the passage to retirement, due to age limit, the following military and police officials:

-General Officer Baltazar Diogo Cristóvão

- General Officer Maurício Amado Nzulo

-Police Commissioner Fernandes do Espírito Santo Vieira.
