South Africa: SAPS and Metro Police Paint Northern Areas Blue - Port Elizabeth

press release

SAPS Gelvandale members and the Metro police took to the streets of Helenvale today, 15 November 2018, in their numbers as part of the safer festive season awareness campaigns. During this time of the year many young children are seen loitering the streets aimlessly and engaging in activities that are criminal or gang related.

SAPS members from the support, social crime prevention and Vispol environment as well as the CPF walked the streets handing out pamphlets on gangsterism and talking to the residents and youth. This initiative was welcomed by the many residents who live in fear of the gang activity in the area. They were glad to see the men and women in blue interacting with the community. Actions such as this will enhance the community's trust in the police.
