Angola: Culture to Contribute to Social and Economic Development

Luanda — The Secretary of State for Culture, João Constantino, defended Thursday in Luanda the need for a modern, dynamic, inclusive culture that would contribute decisively to the social and economic development of Angola.

Speaking during the award ceremony of the literacy prize, António Jacinto considered that it is intended to encourage literary creation, promote the emergence of new authors and new works in the field of literature.

According to João Constantino, the prize has stimulated the national literature, allowing the young to debut in the literary field.

The official also spoke on the occasion of the recent creation of the multisectoral commission for the monitoring and implementation of the national book and reading policy which is a response of the Executive to the aspirations of society in face of the needs of the sector.
