Alsf Management Board Adopts 2019 Work Plan and Budget

The Management Board of the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) met on 26h November 2018 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, to discuss the 2017 ALSF Effectiveness Review and assess its operations and institutional activities in 2018.

From advisory services and capacity building and knowledge management activities to the manner in which communications are conducted, all elements of the Facility's work were discussed. Equipped with a more insightful view of the ALSF's previous work, the Board reviewed and adopted the Work Plan and Budget for 2019.

During the meeting, the ALSF Board Chairperson, Dorcas Achapa congratulated the Facility on recently receiving two continental awards for its development impact in Africa. She also officially welcomed the new ALSF Board member, Gaston Kenfack. The incoming member, thanked the Board for the warm welcome. "I'm happy and eagerly looking forward to working with a vibrant team to deliver on the ALSF's mandate," he said.

The ALSF's Management Board is responsible for the efficient and effective conduct of all operations of the Facility, as well as the approval of its Budget and appointment of its Director. It comprises five members of high integrity and competence, who act in their individual capacity, and are appointed by the Governing Council for a three-year, non-renewable term. The current members of the Board include Dorcas Achapa (Kenya), Dandi Gnamou (Benin), Bruce Montador (Canada), Mahomed Rafique (Mozambique), and Gaston Kenfack (Cameroon).

Established in 2008, the ALSF is an international public institution, hosted by the African Development Bank Group. Its mandate is to support African states by providing legal advisory services, launching capacity building events, and developing unique knowledge management tools.
