Angola: Railway Transport Under Debate in Lobito

Lobito — The role of Railway Transport in supporting economic diversification and regional integration tops the meeting of the tenth Consultative Council of the Ministry of Transport, opened Thursday in the city of Lobito, Coastal Benguela province.

During two days of work, under the guidance of Transport Minister Ricardo de Abreu, the participants will also discuss other topics, namely "Port Concessions", "Civil Aviation - Challenges of the Future", "Passenger and freight transport", "Innovation Transport "and" Localization of sectoral production and the need for disposal".

Issues relating to "Transport Economics and its Financing", "Experience of Transport Micro-operators" and "Cross-sectoral Transport Coordination" are also on the table of the meeting, whose mission is to discuss the sector's challenges, General Plan of Transport, as well as to analyze and diagnose the strategies of the road, rail, maritime, air and port subsectors.

The meeting, which takes place at Lobito Municipal Administration under the motto "Transport - Driving Force for Integrated and Inclusive National Development", has the participation of more than 250 officials from the Ministry of Transport, as well as regulatory bodies, public operators and class unions, professional associations and specialists.
