Nigeria: Many Flee Homes As Insurgents Attack Borno Village Again

Maiduguri — Many residents fled their homes when suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked Gudumbali in Guzamala local government area of Borno State yesterday evening, a security source said.

The insurgents were said to have stormed the remote town of Gudumbali at about 7:05pm and engaged troops in fierce gun battle for hours.

"As I am speaking with you, the insurgents are currently engaging troops in fierce gun duel at Gudumbali in Guzamala LGA, it is dark already. The fighting started around 7:05 pm, we don't have more details for now.

"But we hope our troops will repel and flush them out although hundreds of civilian women and children have fled the town into bushes for safety. Let us continue praying for the troops," the security source said.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from army on the incident.

Gudumbali town was attacked last September.
