Nigeria: 70 Women in Katsina Get N3 Million Empowerment Tools

Katsina — About N3m items comprising sewing and grinding machines were distributed to 70 women in Katsina Local Government Area.

Arewa Trust reports that the items were donated by Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) as part of its corporate social responsibilities.

Speaking at the occasion, the Managing Director NPA, Hadiza Usman, who was represented by the Ports' Director of Corporate Responsibility, Ali Garba Bichi, said empowering women was essential to the nation given their important role in managing resources for their immediate family and relations.

She said, the beneficiaries were carefully selected and exposed to training on marketing and entrepreneurship to enable them run the their businesses successfully.

She urged them to judiciously utilise them.

In her remarks, the chairperson of Women Tailors in Katsina, Hussaina Musa, thanked the donor for the gesture and assured her that they would use the items judiciously.
