Nairobi — National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has convened a special sitting of MPs Next Tuesday to allow MPs consider the nomination of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Chief Executive Officer, Twalib Mbarak.
Muturi said members of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee will table their report on Mbarak's vetting.
Mbarak who was nominated by the Public Service Commission to take over from Halakhe Waqo is set to appear before the House Committee this Friday to undergo his approval hearing.
Waqo is set to leave the Commission after serving his six-year term which began on January 21, 2013 making him the EACC's first Chief Executive since it was established to replace the defunct Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission in 2012.
The Special Sitting will also consider the report of the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing on the ratification of Bilateral Air Service Agreements between Kenya and Jordan, Kenya and Jamaica, as well as Kenya and the Bahamas.
MPs are also expected to approve the protocol amending an Air Service Agreement between Kenya and Turkey.
The lawmakers received the Fourth Report of the Special Funds Accounts Committee on Audited Financial Statements for the Kenya Roads Board Fund for the year ended June 2017.
