Gombe — Four suspected rapists paraded by the Gombe State Police Command yesterday
The Gombe State Police Command, yesterday, paraded four men over alleged trespass and defilement of teenage girls and a minor.
The state Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Garba Mukaddas, said the suspects were arrested separately by different police divisional offices of the state command.
Speaking to journalists at the command headquarters, Mukaddas said the Kaltungo division on December 4 arrested one Umar Waziri, 27 and Nelson Manaseh, 19, all of Lapandintai village of Kaltungo LGA over a case of criminal conspiracy, house trespass and rape.
The duo of Waziri and Manaseh were alleged to have conspired to break into the house of one Balkisu Ahmadu of Kalarin ward and forcefully raped her sales girl (name withheld).
He said the Cham division of the command also arrested one Boniface Babangida, a father of five children residing at Cham town of Balanga LGA over alleged defilement of a five-year-old girl.
Babangida was alleged to have used milk juice and lured the girl into his room where he forcefully defiled her. The victim was rushed to hospital for treatment after the suspect was apprehended.
Mukaddas added that the Gona division of the command arrested one Ishaku Hassan, 18, of ARC quarters, Local Gina village, for allegedly conspiring with his uncle, one Sa'adu Hassan, now at large, to rape two teenage girls. Hassan and his fleeing uncle were alleged to have ambushed two young orphans (names withheld), aged 14 and 15 respectively when the girls went to fetch firewood for domestic use.
The police said they threatened them with a knife and Dane gun, the girls succumbed out of fear and the suspects eventually dragged them into a valley and defiled them.
Similarly, an 18-year-old resident of Flat B FRSC quarters was arrested over alleged house breaking, trespass and attempted culpable homicide and rape. The suspect, Seth Sunday, was accused of breaking into the house of his parent's female neighbour through her kitchen window and attempted to rape her by allegedly attacking her with a knife.
According to the police, the suspect inflicted injuries on her neck but ran away after she repeatedly shouted out his name during a struggle that ensued between them.
