Namibia: Iilonga Dies At 71

FORMER Swapo parliamentarian and deputy minister Petrus Iilonga died last night at a Windhoek private hospital after a long illness.He was 71.

Iilonga was deputy minister of defence at the time of his death but previously served as a deputy minister in four different ministries from 2000 to 2015.

Before that, he served as the secretary general of the Namibia Public Workers' Union from 1988 to 2000.

During the liberation struggle he served time at Robben Island in South Africa.
