12 December 2018

ODM leader hails Westlands Member of Parliament's great job, says he is fit to run Nairobi county.

ODM party leader Raila Odinga has endorsed Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi for Nairobi Governorship seat.

Mr Odinga said that the MP, who is also the brother to Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula, was doing a great job.

"I want to say our next Nairobi Governor is Tim. He is doing a good job, and deserves the ODM ticket in 2022," he said.

He was speaking during a football match at Kabete Technical where he was the chief guest.

Mr Odinga endorsed Mr Wanyonyi in the presence of Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, who has also declared his interest in unseating Governor Mike Sonko come 2022.

Other MPs who attended the event were George Aladwa of Makadara and Mathare's Anthony Oluoch.

Early this year, Mr Wanyonyi declared interest for the Nairobi's top seat stating that he had received numerous complains about how the county was being run.

It will be interesting to see how things unfold ahead of the next elections.

Others who have declared interest in the county's top seat is Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja.
