Addis Ababa — Ethiopian airlines inaugurated its second destination to Manchester in the UK next to London on Tuesday.
The four weekly flights to Manchester will be operated by the ultra-modern B787 Dreamliner, it was indicated.
Speaking on the occasion, Susanna Moorehead, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Ethiopia said that the inaugural flight to Manchester is a strong symbol of the depth and breadth of the relations between Ethiopia and the UK.
She added that Ethiopian is iconic of the country and stated that, "It's global; it's growing; connecting people; it's supremely professional, modern; it's forward looking, its young and it's dynamic."
Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, Tewolde GebreMariam on his part said the group is delighted to expand the services closer to the customer in Manchester additional to the London flight which has been flying for the past 46 years.
"The connectivity we are establishing between Europe and Africa is facilitating trade investment, tourism and people-to-people ties," the CEO noted.
Over the years, Ethiopian has been opening new routes including to Europe, which it is currently serving with 51 flights a week.
