East Africa: Ethiopia Stabilizing Factor in Horn of Africa - Borge Brende

Addis Ababa — The Horn of Africa has become the "hope of Africa" as Ethiopia playing a stabilizing role in the region, said Borge Brende, World Economic Forum President.

"We are very impressed by the steps taken to create peace with Eritrea. The world needs strong Ethiopia as stabilizing factor in the Horn of Africa," Brende said after discussions with Ethiopia's Foreign Minister.

The President, who came with an invitation for Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to attend the World Economic Forum to be held in Davos, Switzerland, said there is a lot opportunity for Ethiopia.

There is a lot of interest among the business community to look at Ethiopia for investment, he said.

"There is a lot of interest and support of the reforms that the Prime Minister has undertaken and we are very much looking to welcome him to Davos annual meeting," he added.

Thousands of the leading CEOs of the world and 70 heads of state and government from all over the world will participate in the meeting to be held in January.
