Ethiopian Diaspora Trust Fund Collects Over One Million Usd, Says Office of PM

Addis Ababa — The Ethiopian Diaspora Trust Fund has collected over 1,000,000 USD after Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed made the second call for raising the fund recently.

It is to be recalled that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed had called on Ethiopians in the Diaspora to contribute their share in the process of building better Ethiopia.

Accordingly, Ethiopian Diaspora Trust Fund account was opened.

However, the Prime Minster was obliged to recently remind the diasporas to fulfill the pledge they made during his tour in the US and Europe.

Following the call, the Ethiopians in Diaspora responded vigorously, thus exceeding the planned 1,000,000 USD, Office of the Prime Minister revealed.

The response demonstrates the tremendous power in Ethiopian unity, it added.

The Ethiopian Diaspora Trust Fund is an initiative launched with the aim of raising money starting from one dollar daily from Ethiopians in the Diaspora to contribute for their country.

More money is expected in the next few days and the money will be used for various social services and development activities, it was learned.

Further call is made for the Ethiopian Diasporas to continue their generous support in the coming year.
