Brasilia — Head of Government, Saad Dine El Otmani, represented, on Tuesday in Brasilia, HM King Mohammed VI at the inauguration ceremony of the new Brazilian president, Jair Bolsonaro.
El Otmani was accompanied at this ceremony by Morocco's ambassador to Brazil, Nabil Adghoghi.
"I was honoured to represent His Majesty the King at the inauguration ceremony of the new President of Brazil," El Otmani told MAP.
Commenting the talks he had with the representatives of several South American countries on the sidelines of this ceremony, El Otmani said that Morocco seeks to develop its relations with these countries.
"Morocco has important relations with Brazil and we wish to develop and diversify them further," he added.
"The human, commercial and economic relations between the two countries are very important and we will work to develop them further," he pointed out.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several heads of state and government, mostly from Latin America, including Chilean President Sebastian Piñera, President of Uruguay Tabaré Vázquez and President of Peru, Martin Vizcarra.
Bolsonaro won 55 percent of the vote in the Oct. 28 presidential run-off.
