Africa: Last Preparations Ahead of CAF Awards 2018 Ceremony

The Confederation of African football is ready to celebrate the best African talents tonight at the Abdou Diouf International Conference Center. In Dakar, at least 1,250 guests are expected as well as 220 media representatives. This event will be broadcasted live and directed by Mohamed Hassani from Canal Plus.

CAF authorities have been preparing this event for months. It will a lively show of 1h45 with three stages and big LED screens. Senegalese music will be celebrated on stage with the singer Coumba Gawlo Seck or the 25 dancers from the National Ballet of traditional arts. The iconic Yousou N'Dour will also perform in front of Senegalese president Macky Sall and his counterpart from Liberia, George Weah. FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, will give a Platinium Award to Macky Sall.

Eleven categories will be honored this January 8th and CAF will pay tribute to 17 African legends, winners of the CAF Best Player of the Year between 1992 and 2017. It will give fans an opportunity to see Samuel Eto'o, Didier Drogba, El HAdji Diouf, Alain Gouamene, Patrick M'Boma, Emmanuel Amunike etc.

A special award was made in Germany for this occasion. It is made of gold and malakite, two minerals from Africa.
