Somalia: Somali Arms Launches an Operation to Clear Up Illegal Checkpoints

The Somali National Army (SNA) carried out an operation to clear illegal checkpoints along roads in Afgoye district on Thursday.

The operation led by General Odowa Yusuf Raage removed several checkpoints that were used to distort money from road users and arrested five people who were among those operating them.

General Rageh who spoke to the media said SNA also confiscated weapons used by the criminals and added that they will defend the public from such harassment.

The representative of the loweShabellele region's administration has commended the SNA for their action.
