Kenya: Man Killed After Being Caught Having Sex With Cousin's Wife in Forest

Residents of Kanjuu village in Kirinyaga County are reeling in shock after a man was hacked to death in a suspected love triangle.

Mr Dickson Gicobi, a 50-year old stone mason, died on the spot on Thursday evening when he was hit on the head with a club at Kwa Martin forest in Gichugu constituency.

He was allegedly found in a compromising position with the wife of his cousin who is also his neighbour.

According to the residents, the neighbour arrived home from work and found his wife missing and decided to look for her in the forest.

While in the forest, he heard sounds and on checking saw Mr Gicobi having sex with his wife.

It was then that he took a club and bludgeoned Mr Gicobi to death while his wife fled in panic.

After the assailant committed the crime, he collected the victim's clothes (he had undressed and thrown the clothes under a tree) and handed them over to his father and disappeared.

As the news spread, villagers ran to the forest to catch a glimpse of the slain victim. Police had a hectic time trying to keep them at bay.

"We are still in shock following the fatal attack," one of the villagers Mr Edward Njagi said.

Njukiini chief Mr Geoffrey Kariuki said he received information he rushed to the forest only to find the victim lying dead.

Mr Kariuki said it was unfortunate the mason had been killed simply because of love.

Gichugu police boss Mr Hassan Husseini said the assailant went into the hiding soon after the fatal attack and is being pursued.

"We are tracking down the suspect and he shall face a murder charge when apprehended," he said.
